The NEBOSH International General Certificate (NGC) is the most popular health and safety qualification in the world and is essential for anyone wanting a successful career in health and safety. NEBOSH qualifications are mentioned in 90% of health and safety job adverts, which means that people who hold the NGC have much better job prospects. It is suitable for managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organizations making day-to-day decisions at work who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues and to be able to manage risks effectively. Many people take the NEBOSH National General Certificate as a first step in a career in health and safety. It provides a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study. The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) in Occupational Health and Safety is an internationally recognized qualification that will provide you with a broad understanding of key health and safety issues.

·        The moral, social and economic drivers for ensuring health and safety in the workplace, including; economic climate, globalization, migrant workers, compensation claims and insured/uninsured costs

·        The role and objectives of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and International Labor Standards and the levels of legal duties

 

Element 2: Health and Safety Management Systems - Plan

·        The key elements of Safety management systems; Plan-Do-Check-Act, ILO-OSH and OHSAS18001

·        The purpose and features of an effective health and safety policy and the areas of business it influences

 

Element 3: Health and Safety Management Systems - Do

·        The main roles responsible for managing health and safety and their specific duties

·        Managing contractors

·        The key aspects of creating a positive health and safety culture and its significance in the management of health and safety

·        The organizational, individual and job factors that influence health and safety behavior

·        The processes and programs that can influence a positive change in behavior at work

·        The Health, Welfare and Work Environment requirements of a workplace

·        The Prevention of falling materials through safe stacking and storage

·        The risks associated with violence and substance misuse at work and the procedures needed to effectively control it

·        The hazards and controls for safe movement of people, working at height, excavations and temporary works

 

Element 2: Transport Hazards and Risk Control

·        The hazards and controls for safe workplace transport operations including non-movement related workplace transport hazards

·        The risk assessment process for driving at work

 

Element 3: Musculoskeletal Hazards and Risk Control

·        Risks and controls of work-related upper limb disorders (WRULD's)

·        Risks and controls of display screen equipment (DSE)

·        Risks and controls of manual handling activities including manually operated and powered load handling equipment

 

Element 4: Work Equipment Hazards and Risk Control

·        General requirements for work equipment

·        Risks and controls of hand-held tools and mechanical and non-mechanical machinery

 

Element 5: Electrical Safety

·        The use of electricity and high risks associated with electricity at work

·        The duties for controlling the risks of working with electricity

·        The risk assessment process for work with electricity

 

Element 6: Fire Safety

·        The initiation, classification and spread of fires

·        The fire risk assessment process and fire prevention methods

·        The principles and use of fire alarm systems and fire-fighting equipment

·        The evacuation of a workplace in the event of a fire

 

Element 7: Chemical and Biological Health Hazards and Risk Control

·        The forms, classification and health risks from exposure to hazardous substances

·        The key elements of a risk assessment of hazardous substances

·        Control measures of hazardous substances, including occupational exposure limits

·        The use and control of common workplace agents; Asbestos, Silica, Wood dust, Blood Borne Viruses, (BBV's), Legionella, Cement dust and Carbon Monoxide

·        The legal responsibilities when storing and handling waste

 

Element 8: Physical and Psychological Health Hazards and Risk Control

·        The principles, health effects and controls of various health hazards; noise, vibration and radiation

·        The importance of managing stress at work

 

UNIT GC3: HEALTH AND SAFETY PRACTICAL APPLICATION

·        Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of the unit IGC1 and GC2 syllabus, by successful completion of a health and safety inspection of a workplace

·        Complete a report to management regarding the inspection with recommendations

Unit Assessments

·       All units are mandatory and there are no optional units.

·       Units IGC1 and IGC2 are taught units assessed by one two-hour and a half written examination per unit and consisting of ten ‘short-answer’ questions and one ‘long-answer’ question. All questions are compulsory and are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.

·       Unit IGC3 is assessed by a two-hour and a half practical examination carried out in the candidate's workplace.  The assessment must normally be taken within 10 days of a written examination is internally assessed and externally moderated by NEBOSH.

 

Recommended Extensive Course Duration

·        A program of study therefore needs to be based around a minimum of 80 taught hours and approximately 53 hours of private study for an overall total of 133 Hours.

·        Course will be delivered through instructor-led technique along with practical scenarios, discussions, roles, tasks, etc.

·        6 net training hours daily X 15 days = 90 Hours of instruction + Mock Tests

·        One-to-one Assistance: The instructor will sit with the candidates individually so as to bridge the gap of different levels of heterogeneous candidates

We will provide you with samples of previous examinations and perform Mock Tests so as to aid you with the necessary exam skills in order to enhance your skills.

COURSE CERTIFICATE

Certificate of Completion will be provided to the candidate(s) who successfully attend and complete the course. Training hours attendance percentage of 75% is required.


TRAINING HOURS

Standard course hours: 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Informal discussions: 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.

We use a blend of interactive and hands-on methods, active participation, a variety of instructional techniques, dynamic presentations, individual and group exercises, in depth discussion, DVD’s, role-plays, case studies, examples. All of the information, competencies, knowledge and skills acquired within our training programs, are 100% transferrable to the participants’ workplace.

Pre-Test and Post-Test Assessment are applied on 5-day and 10-day programs. Also, post course evaluation and candidate’s evaluation are applied to add another level of quality measurement. Candidates’ feedback is highly appreciated to elevate the training service quality.

REGISTRATION POLICY

Nominations to our public courses are to be processed by the client’s Training and/or HR departments. A refund will be issued back to the client in the event of course cancellation or seat unavailability. A confirmation will be issued to the relevant department official(s). 


CANCELLATION POLICY

If a confirmed registration is cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the course start date, a substitute participant may be nominated to attend the same course or a 20% cancellation charge is applied. In case of a no-show, a 100% fee will be charged.


PAYMENT POLICY

Payment is due upon receiving the course confirmation, invoice and/or proforma invoice. However; the fee due can be wire transferred to our bank account directly after course completion. Our bank details are illustrated on the confirmation, invoice and proforma invoice, as well. The above documents can be communicated electronically, i.e., in a soft copy or/and in hard copy based on customer’s request.
