Since IT departments have existed they have always looked for ways to contribute towards the long-term goals of the enterprise; and accordingly, to justify the appropriate investment. Out of these efforts, the domain of Enterprise Architecture (EA) has emerged as a set of practices used to govern this alignment between technology investment and business/organizational strategy. As IT departments became more commonplace within organizations, frameworks gave IT Governance its first formal methods of simplifying, analyzing and designing an IT architecture. Using an EA framework made it far simpler to identify threats and opportunities, plan migration paths, guide IT capital expenditures, and create blueprints for development.

This course provides delegates with a concise and fundamental overview and critical enterprise architecture concepts. This is done by means of case studies, focusing on core concepts and ideas behind architecture, using enterprise architecture frameworks and linking this knowledge back to notational styles and finally the application of these styles. This is a fundamental course that equips participants with general understanding of enterprise architecture and how it may be applied. This course presents the key components and processes involved in the effective creation and governance of enterprise architectures. An enterprise architecture is an overall framework and strategic objective for the usage of technology over time across an organization; it provides a plan and objectives that align business goals with strategy, to enable the organization to make the most effective use to support and build the business. The delegates will acquire knowledge about all of these aspects of enterprise architectures. The course will feature:
