Oil & Gas Field Operations Program
4
Introduction:
Module Four of
the Oil and Gas Field Operations Series program discusses the various
measurements of hydrocarbon volume, level, temperature and pressure. Basic
instrumentation, computers, UPS and SCADA systems are also discussed in detail.
Also covered are the topics of corrosion, lubrication, production accounting,
economics, ESD systems, flow diagrams, mechanical drawings, electricity and
finally a review of the safety aspects of working in the oil and gas industry.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this
course delegates will be able to:
· Explain oil and
gas field measurements of volume, level, temperature, and pressure; including
the instruments used for each
· Describe the
type and functions of basic control loops, including component parts and their
functions
· Illustrate
computer use in process control and daily field activity
· Demonstrate the
changing of orifice plates under supervision, explain the measurement of
hydrocarbons, and the instruments used in measurement and control
· Explain the
function of production accounting with an understanding of the importance of
accurate record keeping
· Identify issues
of loss control, hazardous area classification, air monitoring systems, and
hydrocarbon storage
· Explain the
significance of corrosion and corrosion control, and lubrication and lubricants
