Oil & Gas Field Operations
Program 1
Introduction:
Module 1 of the Oil and Gas Field Operations series
program discusses the origin of hydrocarbon bearing formations, exploration for
hydrocarbons and the chemical composition of hydrocarbons. Procedures linked to
artificial lift systems; pipeline pigging and crude oil production will be
covered in detail. Students will also become familiar with wellheads, casing
and completions, separators, heater-treaters, wastewater treatment, crude oil
handling, and custody transfer.
Course
Objectives:
By the end of this
course delegates will be able to:
· Discuss
underground activities as related to the formation, exploration, drilling and
recovering of hydrocarbons
· Describe
various artificial lift systems, their design and operation and specific
maintenance procedures
· Provide an
overview of pipeline gathering systems and pigging procedures
· Trace the flow
and treatment of crude oil including separation, emulsions and emulsion
treatment, wastewater treatment and disposal, crude oil handling, static
electricity and custody transfer of crude oil
