Drilling Fluids in the Oil & Gas Industry

Introduction:

The drilling-fluid system is the single component of the well-construction process that remains in contact with the wellbore throughout the entire drilling operation. Drilling-fluid systems are designed and formulated to perform efficiently under expected wellbore conditions. Advances in drilling-fluid technology have made it possible to implement a cost-effective, fit-for-purpose system for each interval in the well-construction process. This course covers all aspects of drilling fluids technology, balancing both theory and practical applications.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to know about:

  • Understanding drilling fluid systems
  • Learning how to design and select proper drilling fluids systems
  • Understanding wellbore stability/chemical inhibition
  • Being familiar with solids control equipment selection operations
  • Being able to troubleshoot mud systems
