Advanced Welding Technology

Introduction:

The welding program is designed to provide entry level training and practical skills in Oxy-Acetylene cutting and brazing, SMAW (Arc), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core) and GTAW (TIG) in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including purge welding of sanitary process pipe. In addition to preparing students for AWS welder performance certifications candidates will also learn shop and site safety practices, blue print reading, principles of metallurgy, construction math, hand and power tool usage and basic layout techniques used in the fabrication industry.

This program is designed to meet trade expectations for safety and skills required for the welding industry. The candidates will become proficient in Oxy-Acetylene cutting and brazing, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW welding using hands on training with industry standard equipment. They will be more able to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals using a variety of processes. Successful graduates of this program will be prepared to go through full AWS welder performance certification in the horizontal, vertical, overhead and 6G positions.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course delegates will gain:

  • Deeper knowledge of structural parts and constructions
  • Knowledge of fundamental physical background of welding arcs
  • Knowledge of advantages and disadvantages of welding machines in different situations
  • Knowledge of advantages and disadvantages of systems for flexible welding with robots
  • Deeper knowledge of control and quality checks, during the welding process and after completing it
  • Ability to accomplish an optimized choice of material, additive, weld parameters etc. Including optimization of quality and costs ability to formulate new standards, rules an procedure specifications for welded constructions
